Welcome to my homepage

My name is Mark Juhasz M.D., Ph.D. I am specialized in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. I graduated at Semmelweis University, Budapest. Ever since my main affiliation is the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine at Semmelweis University, this is also where I defended my PhD Thesis in 2004 on gastric and pancreatic carcinogenesis. I am the member of the Board of the Hungarian Gastroenterology Society, and I am the co-founder of the Society for Young Hungarian Gastroenterologists. I have been running my private practice since 2004.

What are my specialities?

Coeliac disease (also called sprue, or gluten sensitive enteropathy)

One of my main field of interests is coeliac disease. I care for couple of hundreds of people with coeliac disease by setting up the diagnosis and then performing the follow-up, and family screening. Based on my experiences, I have published several articles in Hungarian and international medical journals, and edited and published a book on this topic as well.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

The number of patients treated with inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’ s disease and ulcerative colitis) is rapidly increasing. In my office, it is possible to spend enough time on the evaluation of the full history of patients with IBD, the thorough physical examination, and the establishment of the necessary diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Having the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine at Semmelweis University in the background of my private practice as a distinctive centre for IBD, the novel treatment option for IBD, biologics, are also available.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease

The most well-known and one of the commonest gastrointestinal disorder of our times. Reflux disease has multiple symptoms making already the diagnosis sometimes rather difficult. The complex treatment of reflux disease requires a lot of patience from either sides.

Other gastrointestinal disorders you can turn to me with

  • Diagnostics, endoscopic treatment and follow-up of colon polyps and colorectal cancer
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth syndrome
  • Diverticular disease
